I just bought my first shotgun and I can honestly say not many other purchases have made me as happy. I wanted an over/under because I love the way they look. The main thing I’ll be using this for is shooting clays with the occasional pheasant/goose hunt. The removable chokes make it easy to go from the range to the field which really helps in it’s versatility. It has 3″ chambers so I can use larger loads, it just won’t be as effective as if it had 31/2″ chambers.
I selected this particular shotgun because of the price. It was very cheap, something you can tell by looking at the quality of the wood and the overall appearance of the gun. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it only has shell extractors and not the auto-ejectors. I don’t really think one is better than the other, its just a personal preference. I could have stepped up to the Condor Competition which would have given me auto-ejectors, along with a selectable trigger, and better quality wood, but the Competition costs twice as much as what I paid for my gun.
I’ve shot it three times since I’ve owned it and put about 150 shells through it without any problems. It weighs about 71/2 lbs, which is slightly on the heavier side for shotguns. But that helps absorb some of the kick. My shoulder didn’t have any problems with going through 75+ shells (using Federal 2 3/4″, 7/8oz, #8).
I wouldn’t have any problem recommending this gun to other first time shooters. While I can’t comment on the long term reliability or field durability I can say its a solid gun well worth its affordable price tag. For more information check out http://www.stoegerindustries.com/
You knew I had to throw in a few pen pics somewhere.
